I can't help but wonder if the young man knew he could be arbitrarily charged as an adult in the state, even though he's a minor. I'm going to assume he did and was why he took his own life instead of surrendering. Instead of his parents held accountable for negligence on their part they could sue the state for wrongful death. That would anger a lot of people but the ideology of "they grow up so fast" and other platitudes that are cultural in nature, as opposed to accepted neurological science, is a problem. For example, a person is not of "legal age" to operate a vehicle until sixteen, because they wouldn't be able to reach the pedals? Or is it some other reason? Yet the reasoning is set aside in certain situations if a minor commits a crime that is deemed atrocious enough to warrant higher penalties than what juvenile courts impose. Instead of re-examining and fine-tuning the existing pertinent system there is a short-cut taken that is solely based on emotion, sensationalism, and retaliation. That's the example that is being set by politicians. Juvenile injustice Charging Youth As Adults is Ineffective Biased and Harmful - healthinpartnership.org

Erfahren Reyndur He took his life because we was not only crazy, he was a coward!😡

He was only sixteen, Dawn Somerville Zalfa, so technically still a child. We live in a world where an average adult feels comfortable calling a child a coward.

Erfahren Reyndur Oh, I’m far from an average adult. Technically, a child, correct. However, in Colorado, the age of emancipation is 16. I have a 16 year old & do not consider her a child. Even if he’s a kid, he is a cowardly kid!

Pardon me, Dawn Somerville Zalfa, below average then ... my bad
